Honor Choirs
For students that wish to go above and beyond, our program provides students with various opportunities to challenge themselves and continue grow as musicians and individuals.
All State
Manasota Honor Choir
Students must pass a written musicianship exam, a sight reading exam, and a vocal audition on the music to be performed. The director will help students learn the information by providing resources and offering help sessions during August and September after school (a session schedule will be provided at the All-State informational meeting). If necessary, students will take a pre-test. Students who pass that test will be ranked, because we may only take 12 girls (3 of each voice part) and 20 boys (any voicing) to the test. Check calendar for dates and times. If a student passes the written exam and sight reading, he/she will be responsible for the cost of the music packet to be learned for the vocal audition. Once passing the vocal test, students will be responsible for their hotel stay for the January conference during which the rehearsals take place in downtown Tampa. Students must have their parent in attendance while at all state.
Established in 2019, this honor choir brings together the choir programs of Manatee and Sarasota Counties. This is a fantastic event! Students will be chosen based on director recommendation. Students who are interested my speak to Mr. Desmond.

FLACDA Honor Choirs
The Florida American Choral Director’s Association Honor Choirs are an outstanding experience that gives young singers the chance to work with a renowned conductor who will stretch their musical experiences beyond those available at Braden River. The event is an over night event that includes a stay in a hotel. I will assist any student interested in the experience with their audition. Concert’s are free for all who wish to attend. Students that participate are required to have a parent attend with them.
The Honor Choirs include a 6th - 9th grade TB Choir, 6th - 9th SA, and a 10th - 12th Grade Mixed Choir. Audition requirements will be provided in class.
